Just 20 minutes from Christchurch International Airport, Silverstream Alpaca Stud , owned by Kit and Sheryl Johnson, combines alpaca farming and farmstay accommodation. Our mission is to develop an elite herd of approximately 250 alpacas chosen from the best genetic lines available in New Zealand, Australia and North America.
Alpacas for Europe and the UK
We are in Europe (Germany, Holland, Belgium and the UK) this month (March 2010) organising alpaca exports - talk to us now. We can have alpacas at your door within six weeks and it is not as expensive as you may think.
Success in breeding and showing alpacas comes from having elite females. Many of the alpacas are from award winning genetics and include alpacas from the Silverstream show team.

Silverstream has won the Supreme Champion Huacaya title for the third successive year at the National Alpaca Expo 09 -
>New Zealand's largest alpaca show. The 2009 event was also Silverstream's most successful Alpaca Expo producing five age group champions and two reserve age group champions.
Silverstream Deja Vu, the beaten finalist from the 2008 National Alpaca Expo won New Zealand's highest honour and became the first female in the history of the event to win the national title. It is also the first time that a brother and sister have won successive national supreme titles.
Silverstream Faberge wins Supreme Champion Huacaya and the fleece of last year's supreme champion (Silverstream Flashdance) wins Supreme Champion Huacaya Fleece. Silverstream Deja Vu and Silverstream Faberge ( full sister & brother to Silverstream Czar) win Champion Female and Champion Male and together win Get of Dam and Sire's Progeny. Silverstream Alpaca Stud in conjunction with Viracocha Alpaca Stud have established ANZAC Alpacas in Buckinghamshire in the UK to help facilitate exports to the UK and Europe. With our quarantine facility and an exporters licence, Silverstream are able to export alpacas to most parts of Europe, the USA and Australia. Be warned, alpacas are adorable. Most breeders will admit to ‘love at first sight’. A rare and highly prized animal, they are members of the camelid family that live in the high altiplano of Chile and Peru. Docile and inquisitive by nature, they are superb lifestyle animals requiring limited care and attention and are gentle on the environment.
