ABOUT US - Silverstream Alpaca Stud
Kit & Sheryl Johnson welcome you to Silverstream Alpaca Stud, one of the largest alpaca stud farms in New Zealand. Through careful research and regular visits to Australian stud farms and alpaca shows, Silverstream have sourced some of the best alpaca genetics available. At Silverstream we have focussed on the selection andpurchase of superior dams and mated them to the best stud males available.
Kit was raised on a large sheep farm and spent 34 years in tourism retiring in 2004 to focus solely on the raising and management of alpacas. We are now living on the family farm of Sheryl's grand parents. Charlotte our eldest daughter and Lloyd our son are both passionate about alpacas and have participated in junior judging and travelled extensively throughout Australia with us in search ofsuperior genetics.
We honestly believe we have some of the best genetics available in New Zealand and the success of our breeding programme can be seen through our show results. Silverstream won the Supreme Champion Animal of Show at the 2007 New Zealand Royal and have just won the Supreme Champion Huacaya title for the third time in succession at the Natioonal Alpaca Expo.
Silverstream is located 20 minutes north of Christchurch Airport and just 30 minutes north of the city centre.

Silverstream has imported some exciting bloodlines into New Zealand from our Australian friends. Kit is on the Marketing & Promotions sub committee of the Alpaca Association of New Zealand and is chair of the National Alpaca Expo 10 to be held in Christchurch in October 2010.
